Join the Great Drift Paddle on Saturday, October 17, 2026!
Be a part of this fun, FREE awareness event hosted by Dog River Clearwater Revival (DRCR).
Required safety meeting at 9:45AM, launch to follow.
The paddle will begin and end at Halls Mill Landing (Schwartz Park), part of the Dog River Scenic Blueway. The site offers a soft launch and plenty of parking. Paddlers will glide through Halls Mill Creek and have the option of taking 3 different routes depending on skill level.
- Beginner route, family-friendly: 1.5 miles (to the railroad track)
- Moderate paddle: 3 mile option or 3.5 mile loop (to “little hippie beach”)
- Proficient paddlers only: 5 mile option that leads to a beautiful, serene, clear water spot of Dog River. (to Demetroplis Rd)
Guides will be available and helping escort the groups of paddlers on the different routes.
This is a bring your own kayak, canoe, or SUP event (no motorized vessels).
On-site help beginning at 9AM.
Remember to bring your life vest, dry bag/box, whistle, and plenty of water. Life vests required. Sun protection and bug spray encouraged.

Online registration ends Friday, October 16th, at 10 PM. (You may still show up and register and sign the liability waiver in person on the morning of Oct 11th; however, registering online in advance is preferred)

The Dog River Scenic Blueway is a project of Dog River Clearwater Revival promoting stewardship of the Dog River Watershed, cultural and historical awareness, and recreational opportunities for paddling enthusiasts and recreational boaters in Mobile’s urban river and its tributaries. The Dog River Scenic Blueway: a string of sites along Dog River that provide public access to the River and all it’s natural beauty.
